Two Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
